2/5/2012Opening an economic forum on Iraq in Washington, DC
To promote trade and economic relations between Iraq and the United States the Iraqi Commercial Attaché in Washington DC, organized an important economic forum on Iraq on January 31, 2012 in the presence of more than 80 government and representatives of companies and several American institutions.
The new Iraqi ambassador in Washington, Dr Jaber Habib Jaber said a speech welcoming the efforts being made to develop relations between the two countries and the Commercial Attaché Mr. Nofal Abualhun Hassan delivered a speech for the sake of His Excellency, the Minister of Trade, which urged the U.S. companies to enter the Iraqi market.
Ms. Holly Vineyard, the assistant to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce also delivered a speech in which she lauded the efforts made to increase the prospects of trade cooperation between the two countries and was followed by Mr. Jean Droushr Under Secretary of State for Iraqi affairs Assistant;, who pointed out in his support of the United States to the Iraqi government and its belief in the importance of relations between the two countries.
The Commercial Attaché Mr. Nofal Abualhun displayed good range of activities of Commercial Attaché in the various States, followed by subtracting out their plans for the New Year. Involved a group of business leaders the U.S. at the center on "the role of U.S. companies to improve trade and economic relations," namely, Mr. Lionel Johnson, vice president of American Chamber of Commerce, Mr. David Hamod, President of Chamber of Commerce, National US-Arab, Mr. Hussein Alqrgoula President American Business Council in Iraq.
Then, the perceptions about the visions and goals for Iraq and beyond 2012 were discussed in a panel discussion moderated by Mr. Jean Sullivan, Undersecretary of the U.S. Commerce Secretary and former Chairman of the Business Dialogue Iraqi-US included the meeting by Ms. Soham Rak responsible office in Iraq and the U.S. Department of Commerce and Mr. Landor Snow official Office of the Iraq's economic The U.S. State Department and Mr. (Christopher Crowley), Vice President Ioas Wade and Mr. Nofal Abualhun Hassan commercial attache at the Iraqi in Washington, followed by answering questions from the audience.
The Forum concluded by distributing souvenirs to some institutions and departments that have provided exceptional programs for Iraq over the past year.
