Germany Rejects U.S. Criticism Over Euro Crisis

German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble rejected criticism by U.S. President Barack Obama over the eurozone's response to its ongoing sovereign debt crisis, suggesting Obama should first *"deal with the reduction of the American deficit" (DerSpiegel).

GREECE: The country's so-called troika of international lenders--the European Commission, European Central Bank, and the IMF--were forced to delay a visit to Athens after *Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and his finance minister were hospitalized (WSJ) over health concerns. They will be unable to attend this week's crucial European Union summit.

The eurozone is buffeted by a sovereign debt crisis of nations whose membership in the currency union has been poorly policed.
