Syria declares new government
Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad issued a decree on Saturday forming a new government to be headed by Riad Hijab succeeding the former cabinet of Adel Safar, formed last April amid local dramatic events.
The state-run television said the decree stipulated creation of a portfolio for water resources to replace the ministry of irrigation.
The decree also stipulated naming ministers for the portfolios of housing, construction development, labor, internal trade, consumer protection, economy and external commerce.
