Ban Ki-moon confirms Iraqi-Kuwaiti relations improved and calls for preservation

UN Secretary Ban Ki-moon, Friday, that the Iraqi-Kuwaiti relations have improved significantly, and urged them to preserve and the settlement of outstanding issues and normalize their relations completely, noting the commitment of the United Nations to provide the necessary support to facilitate the exit of Iraq from Chapter VII.

Ban Ki-moon said in a report to the Security Council last night on the work of the United Nations Mission to assist Iraq UNAMI, that "bilateral relations between Iraq and Kuwait have improved significantly during the last four months of the establishment of a Joint Committee to manage navigation on waterways in the Khawr Abd Allah during those months.

Ban Ki-moon said that "the parties agreed to take the necessary measures to maintain their common border and promoting common security," he said, adding that "Kuwait will open consulates in Basra and Erbil governorates.
