JPM To Be Subpoenaed Over Defunct PFG's Missing Segregated Money

The blunt trauma that JPMorgan was implicated in the missing millions from segregated accounts in Jon Corzine's bankrupt MF Global may have passed but the memory lingers, especially for all those whose cash is still locked up somewhere in vapor space.
Yet one event that may tear the scab that patiently was healing, courtesy of a Copperfield market full of distractions such as JPM's CIO fiasco, Lieborgate, oh and, Europe, right off is the recent bankruptcy of Peregrine Financial, aka PFG, whose story we first broke, and which just as we suspected, has promptly become the second coming of MF Global, as at least $200 million has "evaporated."
It is thus with little surprise that we find that the first party of interest is none other than JPMorgan, which together with various other banks, will be the target of a subpoena by the PFG trustee. How shocking will it be to find that Dimon's company is once again implicated in this particular episode of monetary vaporization.

Whose agenda is the U.N. ambassador pushing in Iraq?
London, It is a sad day when a U.N. ambassador becomes the stooge of a repressive regime but it's happening. Martin Kobler, the United Nations' Iraq envoy, has brought shame on the institution by allowing himself to be duped into doing Baghdad's dirty work.
His recent report to the U.N. Security Council on Camp Ashraf was a turning point in Kobler's tenure. It raised fundamental questions regarding his fitness to continue in this crucial role.
The 3,400 defenseless residents of Ashraf and Camp Liberty have been dismayed by Kobler's distortion of the truth. There is however one politician who is certain to have been happy to read his report: Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. This is the man who, to please his allies in Iran, ordered troops to storm Camp Ashraf, a raid that resulted in dozens of deaths and hundreds of injuries. Maliki has been seeking any excuse to condemn the refugees who survived his deadly incursion and Kobler has now given him new ammunition.

Government decides to disable office hours on Thursdays of the month of Ramadan
Government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said the government has decided to disable office hours every Thursday in the month of Ramadan.
He said in a press statement today that he will be disabled for office hours on Thursdays and the second day on the ninth and the sixteenth of the month of August next.
The government delayed the official working hours of last Thursday due to high temperatures and reach down to the fifty-C.

New Iran sanctions hit banks in China, Iraq ...
President Barack Obama announced new U.S. sanctions targeting Iran's oil Tuesday as well as banks in China and Iraq, warning that Tehran faces "growing consequences" for refusing to answer international questions about its nuclear program.
Obama said China's Bank of Kunlun and the Elaf Islamic Bank in Iraq "facilitated transactions worth millions of dollars" for Iranian banks already under sanctions.
"By cutting off these financial institutions from the United States, today's action makes it clear that we will expose any financial institution, no matter where they are located, that allows the increasingly desperate Iranian regime to retain access to the international financial system," Obama said in a statement issued by the White House.
On a conference call with reporters Tuesday, Ben Rhodes, deputy national security adviser for strategic communications, said the purpose of additional sanctions was to "affect Iran's calculus" to get Tehran to negotiate seriously over its disputed nuclear program.

Greece is a corpse. It's waiting for its obituary to be written. Spain is on life support. Portugal and Ireland are wheezing. Italy is breathing hard. Britannia is sinking. America isn't far behind.
Progressive Radio News Hour regular Jack Rasmus said significant private sector job creation, housing recovery, and state and local government spending increases followed 11 post-war recessions.
In contrast, Obama's first term achieved nothing. "There have been no effective jobs program, housing-foreclosures solution program, or state-local government spending program. That tripartite failure is at the heart of (his) failed economic recovery."
Conditions in Europe are worse. Will they or won't they? At issue is Fed QE III and massive ECB monetary intervention. Rasmus says smart money isn't sure. It can go either way. It can be some but too little to matter. It can be substantial and accomplish nothing.
On August 2, we'll know. Or will we? The ECB's governing council meets. It may act, do nothing, or defer to a later date. ECB authority is limited.

Obama said at a meeting to raise funds for his campaign in New York, "I do not think that at the end of the day, the Europeans would leave the euro fall apart, but they will have to take decisive steps."
"I spend a tremendous amount of time trying to work with them and (Treasury Secretary) Tim Geithner is trying to work with them." He added: "The more quick to take decisive action, the better for us."

Mission said in a statement: the United Nations has called for during his attendance, Kobler today, a meeting on the new Iraq camp "Ashraf" the invitation extended by the Government of Iraq for the country's diplomatic corps, called the new Iraq camp to begin preparations for the next transfer to camp liberty, liberty, without delay and to convey the vulnerable persons and minors within the meal to come.

European shares ended a three-day rally and oil dipped on Tuesday as investors turned cautious about the likely outcome of central bank policy meetings in the United States and Europe this week, despite mounting evidence of a global slowdown.
Markets for riskier assets like equities and oil have rallied strongly since the head of the European Central Bank raised expectations of bold action at its meeting on Thursday by pledging last week to do all he could to protect the euro.
Signs of flagging growth in the U.S. had also raised some hopes the Federal Reserve, which begins a two-day rate setting meeting later on Tuesday, might respond, though most economists do not expect any further easing before September.

Previously we presented an expose on various Geneva-based hedge funds traders, all of whom were implicated in Libor manipulation in their current or prior positions, which promptly resulted in the halting of trading privileges of one of the named individuals.
Tonight it is time to back away from the buyside and to refocus on the banking sector, in the process jumping a few hundred kilometers to the northeast and that other Swiss banking capital, Zurich, where we get to do a quick run through several UBS Libor traders. Pardon, make that ex-traders. And make that "short-term interest rate" traders which naturally means OIS, IRS, FRA, Money Markets and, sometimes Euribor.
In other words, all the other various IR derivatives which will blow up next as the Libor inquiry gets deeper and deeper into the Swiss rabbit hole. But before the global media juggernaut gets there, in about 6-8 weeks, we will do a quick roster of several voluntarily "retired" UBS traders, all of whom are now "looking for new challenges" and a rather amusing finding.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will visit troubled South Sudan on an 11-day Africa trip starting this week aimed at spurring economic growth, peace and security, according to a US official.
Clinton heads first on Tuesday to Senegal before traveling on to the world's newest nation on a trip which will also take in Uganda, Kenya, Malawi and South Africa, State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said.
In Senegal, the US top diplomat will meet with President Macky Sall, whose coalition won a landslide majority in legislative polls earlier this month, scooping up 119 of 150 seats in the national assembly.
Clinton will "deliver a speech applauding the resilience of Senegal's democratic institutions and highlighting America's approach to partnership," Nuland said in a statement.
Next Clinton will add another country to her globe-trotting tally of 102 nations visited as secretary of state by visiting South Sudan, which this month marked the first anniversary of its independence.

Hong Kong on Monday hailed the success of a birth control programme for the city's wild monkeys, saying the primates' numbers have dropped 15 percent over four years.
Officials said the latest monkey census showed the population stood at 1,965 last year, down from 2,320 in 2008 -- a year after the city started fertility controls for the primates using methods including vasectomies.
The conservation department said about 70 percent of the monkeys had been treated under the "monkey desexing programme". All treated monkeys were implanted with a microchip for identification.
The government decided to take action after receiving numerous complaints from the public including reports of aggressive monkeys chasing hikers for food.
It is illegal to feed monkeys in the southern Chinese city, punishable with a fine of up to HK$10,000 ($1,300).

The MP said the coalition of Kurdish blocs, Hamid Buffy The Constitution stipulated that Arabic and Kurdish are the official languages of Iraq, in response to the claimants, not to include the Kurdish language in the new currency, saying its refusal in the region if they are free of zeros from the currency stripped the Kurdish language.

The “Apocalypse Equation” refers to report authored by one of the most secretive women in US intelligence circles named Audrey Tomason who is Obama’s Director for Counterterrorism and while attending Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government wrote a master thesis [now classified by the US as “top-secret”] suggesting that it would be more humane for our world to undergo a “planned and controlled genocide” rather than to see it descend into the abyss of chaos it is now entering.

Ms Tomason continues in her dire thesis that along with the energy and food “shocks” the global monetary systems will face collapse too as it has, likewise, been“artificially inflated” beyond “all sustainable measures” due to its link with oil production.
Making matters worse, Ms Tomason explains, is that since the United States reached its peak oil production in 1970, it failed to “counter-balance” its economy to reflect it, opting, instead, to keep its economy “artificially inflated” by decoupling the US Dollar from the gold standard in 1972 (called the “Nixon Shock”) and allowing their currency to become, in essence, “worthless pieces of paper.”
During the 20th century alone the US Dollar lost nearly 80% of its purchasing power leaving tens-of-millions of Americans jobless as their once mighty manufacturing base was shifted to lower priced overseas markets, a situation termed “catastrophic” by Ms Tomason, because the American currency is, also, our world’s only reserve currency whose deflation has ensured the destruction of “everything.”
To understand how enormous, and dangerous, this complex economic situation has become one has to realize that the Gross National Product (GDP) of the entire world is just over $55 Trillion a year as opposed to over $2,000 Trillion in total debt outstanding leading to what is called “The Great Credit Contraction” which will, literally, evaporate all the wealth in the world virtually overnight.
Most important to understand about what will surely be the greatest economic collapse in human history is that “mainstream” economists will tell you nothing about it, and they reason they won’t tell you is shocking, to say the least.
Ms Tomason, however, does include debt in her thesis and further warned that by 2011 the US Dollar “could very well begin crashing,” and which a CNBC news report is, also, saying is now underway.
Upon the collapse of the US Dollar, Ms Tomason asserts in her thesis, the entire global economy will crash plunging billions of human beings, including hundreds-of-millions in Western nations, into the lowest scale of “Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.”
Ms Tomason states in her thesis that any population suffering an economic collapse and reverting to “Basic Needs” will be “ungovernable” and pose“tremendous risks” to the state leading to “wholesale breakdown of law and order.”
Ms Tomason further argues in her “Apocalypse Equation” thesis that since the collapse of civilization as we know it is “inevitable,” world leaders should consider the possibility of “mass genocide” to reduce our world’s population to a more “sustainable level commensurate with our Earth’s resources.”
The chilling genocidal scenario envisioned by Ms Tomason begins with a “limited nuclear conflict” targeted at major population centers, but designed to limit the fallout of radiation. Next would be the release of toxic chemical and biological agents she suggests could be blamed on “terrorist entities” to be followed by forced mass migration of populations to more “sustainable living environments.”
Ms Tomason envisions these “sustainable living environments” as being large population centers with mass transit systems where no personal vehicles would be allowed and the rural areas would be completely depopulated except for government run agricultural “systems.”

The “Apocalypse Equation” refers to report authored by one of the most secretive women in US intelligence circles named Audrey Tomason who is Obama’s Director for Counterterrorism and while attending Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government wrote a master thesis [now classified by the US as “top-secret”] suggesting that it would be more humane for our world to undergo a “planned and controlled genocide” rather than to see it descend into the abyss of chaos it is now entering.

Making matters worse, Ms Tomason explains, is that since the United States reached its peak oil production in 1970, it failed to “counter-balance” its economy to reflect it, opting, instead, to keep its economy “artificially inflated” by decoupling the US Dollar from the gold standard in 1972 (called the “Nixon Shock”) and allowing their currency to become, in essence, “worthless pieces of paper.”
During the 20th century alone the US Dollar lost nearly 80% of its purchasing power leaving tens-of-millions of Americans jobless as their once mighty manufacturing base was shifted to lower priced overseas markets, a situation termed “catastrophic” by Ms Tomason, because the American currency is, also, our world’s only reserve currency whose deflation has ensured the destruction of “everything.”
To understand how enormous, and dangerous, this complex economic situation has become one has to realize that the Gross National Product (GDP) of the entire world is just over $55 Trillion a year as opposed to over $2,000 Trillion in total debt outstanding leading to what is called “The Great Credit Contraction” which will, literally, evaporate all the wealth in the world virtually overnight.
Most important to understand about what will surely be the greatest economic collapse in human history is that “mainstream” economists will tell you nothing about it, and they reason they won’t tell you is shocking, to say the least.
Ms Tomason, however, does include debt in her thesis and further warned that by 2011 the US Dollar “could very well begin crashing,” and which a CNBC news report is, also, saying is now underway.
Upon the collapse of the US Dollar, Ms Tomason asserts in her thesis, the entire global economy will crash plunging billions of human beings, including hundreds-of-millions in Western nations, into the lowest scale of “Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.”
Ms Tomason states in her thesis that any population suffering an economic collapse and reverting to “Basic Needs” will be “ungovernable” and pose“tremendous risks” to the state leading to “wholesale breakdown of law and order.”
Ms Tomason further argues in her “Apocalypse Equation” thesis that since the collapse of civilization as we know it is “inevitable,” world leaders should consider the possibility of “mass genocide” to reduce our world’s population to a more “sustainable level commensurate with our Earth’s resources.”
The chilling genocidal scenario envisioned by Ms Tomason begins with a “limited nuclear conflict” targeted at major population centers, but designed to limit the fallout of radiation. Next would be the release of toxic chemical and biological agents she suggests could be blamed on “terrorist entities” to be followed by forced mass migration of populations to more “sustainable living environments.”
Ms Tomason envisions these “sustainable living environments” as being large population centers with mass transit systems where no personal vehicles would be allowed and the rural areas would be completely depopulated except for government run agricultural “systems.”

Ebola confirmed as cause of deaths in western Uganda
THE deadly Ebola virus has killed 14 people in western Uganda this month, according to Ugandan health officials, ending weeks of speculation about the cause of a strange disease that had many people fleeing their homes.
''Laboratory investigations done at the Uganda Virus Research Institute … have confirmed that the strange disease reported in Kibaale is indeed Ebola hemorrhagic fever,'' the Ugandan government and the World Health Organisation said in a joint statement.
Kibaale is a district in mid-western Uganda, where people in recent weeks have been troubled by a mysterious illness that seemed to have come from nowhere.
Ugandan health officials had been stumped as well, and spent weeks conducting tests that were at first inconclusive. On Friday, Joaquim Saweka, the WHO representative in Uganda, said investigators were ''not so sure'' it was Ebola, and a Ugandan health official dismissed the possibility of Ebola as merely a rumour. But it appears firm evidence of Ebola was revealed on Saturday.

Baghdad, The values of the Iraqi National Alliance President Ibrahim Al-Jafari, with Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki at his Office in Baghdad late Sunday, the current political situation and the recent regional developments.
The statement said Al-Ghaffari received (News Agency news) version of it: the two sides traded last consultations between the Iraqi National Alliance and the rest of the political forces and parties and emphasized the need to activate the points under discussion to contribute to strengthening the bonds of trust between the political factions.
The statement noted: that Al-Maliki stressed Jaafari, the adoption of the Constitution in resolving all outstanding issues and avoid crises.

"The Northern Europeans tip more than the Southern Europeans," says Mr. Ribeiro, 22 years old, who works at a sushi restaurant in Vilamoura, a beach resort in Portugal's Algarve region. "I guess it's cultural, but also has to do with the economic situation of the two."
Though Finland and Portugal share a currency, their divergent economic outlooks reflect the divide between the euro-zone's strongest and weakest members. Finland's economy is still growing, and unemployment is low. In contrast, Portugal is suffering a high jobless rate and entering a second year of recession.
Such disparities, central to the euro zone's financial crisis, are in the spotlight heading into a week that brings a closely watched European Central Bank meeting Thursday. Last week ECB President Mario Draghi and the leaders of Germany and France vowed to do everything in their power to save the common currency. But the Bundesbank, Germany's fiercely independent central bank, Friday repeated its opposition to the ECB buying government bonds to help the currency area's weaker members.
